Place loaf on floured surface. Cut into quarters; cut each quarter in 4 pieces (16 total). Using your hands, roll each piece on a board to form a rope 10 inches long. Tie each piece into a knot. Taper one end to form a beak, and, using kitchen shears, make a small cut on each side of head for eyes. Place half of a raisin in each cut. Make three cuts in the other end to form the tail. Brush with melted butter or margarine. Let rise on a greased cookie sheet in a warm place until double in size. Bake in a preheated 375° oven on middle rack for 15 minutes.
